Redeeming the Time
Greetings to you, in the matchless name of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. It is my joy to send this news letter to you. As I was meditating the Ephesians chapter 5:16 “Redeeming the time, because the days are evil” God taught me something which I would like to share with you.
Redeeming the time means taking advantage of every opportunity that present itself for doing God’s work; not allowing a suitable moments to pass by unheeded. In Greek for redeem [ exagorazo] used as applied to our redemption by Christ from the curse and yoke of the law. We have to redeem or buy up the time for the Lord’s work. There is a special urgency on redeeming the time for Christians; because of the evil character of the days. Christians have to use every opportunity to witness to the saving grace of the Lord Jesus Christ. They must utilize every moment possible for winning souls to Christ. In the gospel of John 4:34-36; 9:4 we see the urgency of harvesting souls for the kingdom. Jesus uses Samaritan woman to evangelize the entire village. He wants to teach his disciple a vision about the urgency of parching the gospel. In Jude verse 23 reads like this “snatch others from the fire and save them; to others show mercy…” people those who do not know Christ they are about to fall in to the lake of fire. So we need to understand how we should make use of our time. Death or rapture is the limit set for Christians, and until then we must also do the work of God like Jesus. Jesus said to his disciples “ say not there are yet four months, and then cometh the harvest behold I say unto you lift up your eyes and look on the field; for they are white already to harvest” John 4:35. So there for we too don’t say there is time left for the evangelism and mission work redeem the time or buy up the time to win the lost.
